Solar Burns by bkm Solar Burns by bkm
Sunbeams through the clouds, drawing on the sea...

In the middle of the picture you can see an islet with a lighthouse on it. It's quite some distance away from the shooting point (Approx. 448mm focal lenght on a 1:1 camera). BTW, it took me 2.5 hours of walking in the cold windy mountains to get this capture.

I used a 70-200 F/4L lense with a 1.4x extender= ~448mm. I shot this from my Manfrotto tripod, though it was almost useless in such strong winds. I also think I held my 77mm cir pol filter in front of the lense here.

Post pro: 5% burn, curves, +20% saturation, tiny bit of noise reduction.

Wow, stunning! Those are some awesome rays! And you managed to capture them perfectly! The preview view looked like a whale in the sea as apposed to a lighthouse hehe :D but lighthouses are just as cool :D

i have a similar shot to this (clouds and sea), but nothing like those colours. did you change the colours in this at all, or is it natural sunset light?

There used to live people there in the past, yes. But now most of the lighthouses around are automated and people are there only to check the systems periodically.

Thanks :)

Your efforts paid off mate. It's a lovely shot. The islands really break up the sea and add that little 'extra' something to the shot as a whole. It must have been difficult to get the exposure right on all those different elements. Outstanding work!

What a lovely picture, Norway definitely seems to be the place to go for beautiful scenery. You've captured it all in this pic: the brilliant beams of sunlight, the sparkling water, the silhouette of the lighthouse, and the giant clouds. Magnificent job once again, 'tis quite a wonderful piece indeed. =D
